"KERRANG" Review : Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts - 'Ballad Of A Misspent Youth'

So, here we see him return, guitar still firmly in hand and restless heart still somewhere in America – and his current home of Nashville will do just nicely – on a hazy summer’s day in the golden age of the late 1970s and early-’80s, slightly less wild sounding than before, but no less like a man simply doing what comes naturally…Tuk Smith here also shows himself to be a fine songwriter here, invoking classic rock’s heyday without slipping into parody or cheese. Tuk in… READ MORE

"DG MUSIC" Review : Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts-'Ballad Of a Misspent Youth'

Opening (and title) track ‘Ballad of A Misspent Youth’ comes flying out of the traps with a size-thirteen Glam-filled stomp that begs for the volume control to be turned skyward and the pedal on the right to be floored as the driver furiously beats out the stomp mentioned above on the steering wheel. No hanging around, no breaking the listener in gently; adrenaline from the first note never lets up until the last strains of closing track ‘Forgive But Won’t Forget’ thirty minutes later… READ MORE

"MAXIMUM VOLUME MUSIC" Review - TUK SMITH AND THE RESTLESS HEARTS – BALLAD OF A MISSPENT YOUTH (2022)

On the opening song here – the title track as it happens – as the second verse hits, it goes “This place has got you feeling like a lost soul on parole, so get your kicks down on Reprobation Road” and whatever rock n roll is its right there. That’s it… READ MORE

"GHOST CULT" Review - ALBUM REVIEW: Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts – Ballad of a Misspent Youth

The opening strains of Ballad of a Misspent Youth (MRG Records) by Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts reminds me of old KISS. It’s the sound of the guitars. There is a bit of The Black Crowes thrown in for good measure. It’s hard driving and pop-ish with a punk tinge. The guitars are simple yet sonically pleasing. The album continues this stylistic choice with savage awesomeness. Be prepared, Ballad of a Misspent Youth is solid from start to finish with plenty of songs that will get stuck on constant rotation… READ MORE
